MARCH MAKEUP MADNESS

Although March Madness is commonly defined as the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball championship tournament, I like to define it as the period in March when the weather is so hot, people start to lose their minds. The unnecessary drama of the spring will send many a girl into uncontrollable crying sprees in which their mascara and eyeliner will run off of their eye lids and lashes, thus causing their foundation to cake up resulting in a sight that is both humorous and pitiful. But such a disaster (or at least the disaster on your face) can easily be avoided using the right products.

Face: In the summer you definitely want to prime your face with a foundation primer that has SPF not only will you be protected for the sun's rays, your foundation will be less likely to slide off of your face during the day. From my experience (sensitive combination skin) going bare face (in terms of foundation) is best during the hot summer days. But if you feel naked I suggest a tinted moisturizer like Laura Mercier from Sephora or Hard Candy from Wal-Mart.

You may also want to set your makeup with a spray. I personally use Urban Decay's All Nighter setting spray and it is amazing my makeup literally last ALL DAY AND ALL NIGHT. For Girls with dry skin Urban Decay makes a setting spray called Dew Me that will help lock in the right amount of moisture. Urban Decay also created a setting spray for girls with oily skin called De-slick. These sprays cost about $29 but don't let the price scare you , they also sell smaller versions of the setting sprays for $9.

Skip Bronzer and try a light peach or pink cream blush instead. This will give you a more natural look and prevent you from looking orange. But if you are like me and the thought of not using bronzer is inconceivable, then go for Maybelline Dream Matte Bronzer or Chanel Liquid Bronzer.

Eyes: If you plan on staying in the sun or going to the beach I have one word: WATERPROOF! Waterproof mascara and creaseless waterproof cream eye shadows are the way to go. You will definitely be able to party all night until your heart's content and your makeup will not budge. I suggest brands like MAC(Mac Stores, SAKS, Macy's and Dillard's), Benefit(Sephora), and Hard Candy (Wal-Mart). These are my favorite cream shadows and they haven't failed me yet! Cream shadows can also be used as a base for your potted eye shadows, this intensifies the color of your shadows and increase staying power.

Lips: I generally skip lipstick and lipgloss during the summer. I rely on Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stains. They stay on up to 4 hours and come with a balm that keep my lips hydrated and moisturized.

With trial and error you will be able figure out exactly what makeup look will carry you through the spring and into summer. These tips are just a guideline the real fun comes in creating your own look and tailoring everything to your specific preferences, style, and skin type. Have fun and enjoy yourself.

Ciao For Now
